Snappy Birthday - Water Fun for Just Us Girls

My inspiration today comes from Just Us Girls. It was Word week, and the word was "water" which is perfect for a good summer birthday card.

I love creating waves with torn paper, and especially love the bubbly, frothy edges I get when combining some stickles with those torn edges.

I added some Ranger Glossy Accents to many of the swim elements that the crocodiles are enjoying. Love these Pink & Main images.

I hope you have some fun summer creations happening in your crafty space.

Pattern Paper Friend Card

My card today was inspired by the word prompt at Just Us Girls, which was "friend". I pulled out a number of supplies and in the end was drawn to some pattern paper in my stash.

I had a zipped bag with the paper, some scraps of cardstock and that black border, so from there I pulled in cardstock and some additional dies to create my very subtle "friend" sentiment.

It's been a while since I added a pop of black to a card.

I hope you find some time to create.

Bit of Glitz in a Heart

My card today was inspired by the challenge at Just Us Girls, which was to use a heart die.

I cut my die from watercolor paper. My die had a coordinating stamp, which I had to bring in with some metallic watercolors.

Love a bit of glimmer and shine on my projects. And I love that heart cards double as birthday, sympathy and all the reasons to share love.

I hope you find some time to share some love today.

It's a Boy

Stencils was the challenge this week at Just Us Girls, and I love a good stenciling session. It gets the blood pumping!

And so today, a baby card using some Pretty Pink Posh stencils.

I do love this technique which is perfect for stenciled backgrounds. I used a mix of yellow, blue and green to create this card. While I used only one shade of each color, I varied the heaviness of the blending to get some lighter/darker shades.

What are you waiting for? Use a stencil!

Inspired by Just Us Girls

The challenge this week at Just Us Girls was so packed with inspiration from the design team.

I went back and forth and created a few cards inspired by the group. The one that stood out the most to me was one inspired by Carol. Here is her card . . .

It was the cascading, hanging flowers.

I used this set from Pinkfresh Studios. I just thought it was beautiful.

It is rare where I have cards where the design cascades down, so this was fun.

I hope you find a way to be inspired today!

Happy Halloween

I was inspired by this week's Just Us Girls' Inspiration. Who doesn't love a fabulous mood board full of Halloween themed items. The image that pulled me in were those witch legs. I'm a sucker for some cute witch legs.

So I staged mine, but a bit toppled over.

She fell into something, and her hat hit the ground. All the webs were surrounding it all.

I do love the coordination of pattern paper, inks and stamps at Catherine Pooler Designs.

I hope you can either make a witchy card or coordinate all the things.

Cheers!

Grateful for You

Today's card was inspired by the prompt at Just Us Girls Challenge where the prompt was "fall leaves". I used a set from Catherine Pooler Designs to create my card.

My background piece is a die cut using pattern paper. It adds an interesting frame to the leaves.

I hope you find some time to get crafty today!

Hope

The prompt at Just Us Girls reminded me of a song from the 90's by Janis Ian. The lyrics mention that "hope" is just a four-letter word. I had the song in my head as I created this card.

I had received the butterfly stamp set and the dies as part of a challenge back in August, so they were on my desk and ready for play. I also had just ordered the sentiment set used here, and it was close-by and waiting for me to break open the packaging.

Turnabout stamps are a fun challenge. I went with tertiary colors in the hopes it would blend together nicely.

Life is Brew-tiful

The challenge at Just Us Girls was Anything Goes Stencil, and I adore stencils and the great techniques using them. No question the pastes and mediums can be messy, but they add some amazing texture and pop to a card. I used Pops of Color as my medium for this one.

I also adore coffee. A cup of dark roast black coffee is my morning friend! With stencil in hand, I combined supplies from Catherine Pooler and Newton's Nook to create this card.

The Pops of Color was also used to color the flowers on the stamped coffee mug, so it matched quite nicely.

Color, dimension and shine. I hope you get a chance to get inky today!

Taking the Positive with the Negative - Take 7

Usually my positive and negative pieces become separated from each other, but I decided to play out a creation of positive and negative pieces.  I love the outcome on this one. Nothing like a rainbow of color.

So which came first?  My card for Just Us Girls or CAS on FridayJust Us Girls had a word prompt of "Rainbow".  CAS on Friday had the prompt of "Friendship".  So it started with a rainbow of colors and a "Friend" die.  And I went first to create my card for Just Us Girls, taking that rainbow prompt rather seriously.

I used temporary adhesive and put the "friend" letters down.  I then did some ink blending over the images to create my rainbow of colors.  I then removed the letters and put them aside for my second card.  I stamped my sentiment in black over the word friend, and then used my color palette to stamp some stars around my sentiment.  I used a blender pen to color my images and match them to the ink blending.

A few sequins and I was done.

Moving to my CAS Card, I had cut the die earlier and was ready to piece my friend letters back into my white background.

I suppose a shaker card isn't completely CAS, but I left a lot of white space!  I used some gray striped pattern paper, took the frame from my original die and put it on my card base centered on the pattern paper.  I popped my colored letters back in, and then created a shaker window from the frame which was part of the same die that cut the letters.

A little acetate, foam strips and clay pieces and done.

I love that the letters have some darkness around their edges.  It makes them pop, even though they are flat to the card.

Another positive/negative creative session in the books.

Want some fun?  Create a rainbow!

Debbie

Snow Much Fun This Way

When creating this card, I was focusing on two different challenges.  The first was a challenge at StampNation in honor of the group's 11th birthday!  The focus was to stretch your stamps and supplies.  And then photo inspiration at Just Us Girls (which I've posted further below with my supply list) was my starting point.  The cute little snowmen.  So I took two stamps sets, one that was winter themed and one that was spring themed, and I meshed them together.  Now, admittedly this just looks like a winter card, but I "fashioned" a hat for my fox so he looked like he was trying to keep his little head warm while out playing with his friends in the snow.

I also modified a mini coverplate die to fit in a smaller fashion on a slimline card. That's the piece you can see on the left.

The chunky glitter just makes my day.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Beverage of the Day

Coffee is typically my second beverage of the day (after water), and the aroma is my fave.  And so the prompt at Just Us Girls was right up my alley.

I love nothing more than getting the shaving cream out, along with some brown inks, and preparing a coffee card.  For this one, I included some metallic paint.

My sentiment is a bit off, because I drink my water first.  But does water count?

I do love using a mix of stencils, shaving cream inks and paints when creating backgrounds.  For this one I used only a strip of my background (the best most colorful parts) as my border.  Adding acrylic paint to the mix gives some texture which you can feel but not really see.

I added some sparkly to my lid and that little heart in the sleeve.  And a mini shaker in a cup!  What's not to love?

I hope you found some time to create today.

"Float" Inspired at Just Us Girls

The inspirational quote at Just Us Girls was Float.  I decided to play along with stamps and dies in my stash from The Stamps of Life.  And so two cards with "floats" . . .

For this one I used some pattern paper to encourage cheerfulness and went with a fairly solid colored dragon float that I stamped on pattern paper.

For my second card, I went with a busy pattern paper design and the unicorn flat.  The bright colors in the paper seemed perfect for a unicorn! The sentiment was tucked into the float.

I hope you find some time to create today!

Stencil Inspired . . . Just Us Girls

I stepped away from challenges for a bit, but decided to dive back in a bit in 2021.  I as inspired to pull out a stencil by the Just Us Girls blog challenge, so I did just that and created a card.  I used some Nuvo Glacier Paste for this one. Stamps, dies and stencils are all from Catherine Pooler Designs.

Check out this shine . . .

Sunday Stash Day - You are a Super Hero.

Today was my day to use paper in my stash, and try to make a dent in old supplies.  So I pulled out a box and got busy making a card, this one inspired by the word prompt of "Hero" at Just Us Girls.

Now I was inclined to make a card honoring our medical folks that are out in the field, but I didn't have any good medical stamps or dies.  So I went with just a festive card to put a smile on a hero's face.

I used paper from an old kit from The Stamps of Life with a great sentiment die and stamp set from them as well.  For ink, my sentiments, the black stars within the circles in the pattern paper, and I inked my edges to give a crisp look before popping them on my card.

Tomorrow is a new day . . . go be creative!

I had fun making this one . . . just have to keep it save until February 14, 2020 . . . and then be able to find it, fill it up, and share the joy.

It's going to be a long year.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Choose Kindness . . . Just Us Girls Color Inspired

Sharing a card inspired by the colors at Just Us Girls.

For this one, I started by creating a colorful watercolor background with some emboss resist.

The purple and green can get a bit muddy, so I had to be careful to keep them a bit separate.

And that "kind" stamp and die . . . LOVE it.

I hope you find some time to create.
