A Year of Card Techniques October - Waterfall Cards

Welcome to the . . .

. . . where each month we feature a different card technique. We’ve assembled a team of card makers who range from new to advanced, so you’ll see a great variety of cards and ideas.
There’s just something about interactive cards!  And Waterfall Cards are among the best interactive card techniques.  They look intricate, though, so we’ll let you in on any hints we uncover along the way.   Hopefully, we’ll inspire you to try one for yourself.
If you would like to check out our past technique hops, you can do that here:
This month our amazing sponsor is none other than  Bugaboo Stamps
Please take a moment to check out their store here, their blog here and their Facebook page here.
And the awesome prize this month is $12.00 gift code to the store (about four digi images).
We really appreciate feedback, so please leave a comment on each of the blogs in the hop today.  The winner will be announced on Sunday, October 29, 2017, on A Piece of (my) Heart’s blog, so be sure to check her blog on Sunday.  If you would prefer to be notified if you win, please leave your email address in the comments and someone will contact you.  The winner will have until November 16, 2017, to claim their prize.
You should have arrived here from A Card a Day Challenge Team . If you're visiting here first, you might want to start at the beginning so you don't miss a thing and increase your chances of winning by commenting on each blog.

I have three projects for you today, and let me start by saying that I've made lots of interactive cards, but never a Waterfall card.  So this was really fun for me.  My first attempt?  Let's just say there was some mumbling, grumbling, and ripping of paper, followed by some re-stamping, re-cutting, and re-pasting.  Follow this text chain . . .

I love this stamp set, and while I'm not sure it was perfect for a waterfall card, I had a lot of fun with it.

I was thrilled with how this turned out!  It worked!  It really worked.  My first tip . . . take your time when adhering and don't miss any steps.  This was all stamping!  All of my emphasis was on the mechanics of the card.

And then I became an expert and went for my second attempt.  Less grumbling!  One rip up!  No re-stamping, just a little re-gluing.

This one was stamping and coloring my panels.  But look below . . . do you see my mistake?

I'm not sure why, but I thought, "no one will see the back of my colored panels".  WRONG!  When you are gluing them down, you don't see the backs.  As I flipped the card after gluing . . . my heart sank!  UGH!  To rip, or not to rip. I chose to use it as a teachable moment . . . you backsides of those individual panels show when you flip thru that waterfall.  My solution was to put the sentiment pieces on those "colorful" backgrounds.  (I meant to do that . . . NOT).

And now I'm an expert.  No grumbling and no redoing of anything.  And I had mats around my four waterfall panels, which was a step up.  This one took some time.

Fun Fact:  These little scenes were all cut from white cardstock, and each house, tree, church, fence and background were inked.  I adore how it turned out.

My tip on this one . . . don't limit yourself to just stamps.  Have a blast!  The sky is the limit.

Now you’re off to visit with Amanda. Hope you had fun and thanks for stopping by. See you next month with another technique!

Any, by all means, I hope you find some time to create!

Muse Inspiration

I was inspired today by the card posted on Muse.  Here is their card . . .

I was inspired by the variety of directions the sentiment took, and wanted to try to make a directional card using arrows to direct the recipient.  Here is my card . . .

I struggled at first with placement of the words.  In the end, it has a flow and the message is there . . . "You are simply the BEST friend ever; sending birth wishes to you.  Not one color was repeated, as I also have a variety of new ink colors from Catherine Pooler Designs that I wanted to play with.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Baby It's Cold Outside - Stamp Ink Paper Challenge

Finding time to create has really been a challenge for the last several months, so I'm really trying hard to schedule creative time. Some challenge cards seem in order, so this post is the first of what will hopefully be a few. It is for Stamp, Ink Paper Challenge which had a color challenge this week.  The colors . . .

And here is my card . . .

I love House Mouse stamps, and while they take some time and attention to color, the results are always adorable. I turned this one into a shaker card.

To get my shades, I mixed distress inks of varying shades until I felt I had the color palette for the pool and copper colors . . . although clearly my copper doesn't have a shine to it.  I've rarely seen a mouse that had a shine . . . and thanks to my cat, Lucy, I've seen a few mice over the last few months as it gets colder here in New England.  They love to make their way in, and she loves to find them.  A few we've rescued from her grip and freed outdoors again.  But I think they make their way back in.  If I could put a knit hat our there for them and be assured they would end up as cute as this image in the card, I'd do it!

Hope you find some time to create today!

Merry Monday is Back!

Playing along with Merry Monday challenge today, but before I reveal my card, if you're looking for the Technique blog hop, click here to quickly get to that post.

Merry Monday is back from summer hiatus, and Christmas is looming nearer.  Today's challenge was to create a card using black, white and gold.

I went with a white background and created my design using gold and black in a variety of form.  My sentiment is gold foil cardstock, my snowflakes gold embossed, and my circles and sentments are black ink ,with a few black sequins to add some dimension.

I hope you all find some time to create today.

August Technique Blog Hope - Baby Wipe Technique

It's month eight of our year-long adventure into different card-making techniques, folds and paper crafting products.

We hope you got the chance to hop with us each month.  It's not too late to hop and comment to be entered into our prize drawing.  If you missed any of the previous months, you can click on the month to be taken directly to the start of that month's hop.

January - Emboss Resist Technique
February - Ink Layering Techniques
March - Inlaid Die-cutting
April - Shaker Cards
May - Spinner Cards
June - Step Cards
July - Watercolor Cards

This month we are playing with the baby wipe technique and you won't want to miss the amazing and fun cards we've got for you today.

We really love feedback, so please leave a comment on each of the blogs in today's hop.  Each comment on the 12 hops throughout the year will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Blitsy.com or Stampin' Up gift certificate (Winner's Choice).

Now on with the projects.  I have three cards for you today.  I used two different techniques, the first was the creation of a striped background for technique piece on my card and the second, which I used on all cards, was to create my own stamp pads using re-inkers and a blend of color.  I will admit I'm on the fence about the stripe technique (will have to try it again), but the stamping technique.  Such soft colors - I just love how these turned out.

So card number one has that striped technique piece which I cut using a banner die and created a layered tag.  The second tag has my stamped design which was stamped using the re-inker/baby wipe technique.

The soft colors are amazing.  Two other things I love . . . I added to my Christmas card stash and the stamping matches the striped background.  Yes - make your own stamp pad and it's all matchy-matchy!

Card number two used the same colors, but a completely different stamp.

I love the blending of the pinks in this card.  It looks like a watercolor piece, but it was super simple.

And card number three included some different color combinations.  I just love how this one turned out.  It truly looks like a watercolor painting.

The key on this one is different shades of re-inkers.  There are two greens.  A blue, a purple, and then some brown and purple for the flower centers.

I hope you'll try this technique, as you can really achieve some beautiful results.

Next up is Sharon.  If you do get lost along the way, I've included the full line-up below.

Thanks for hopping!

Hope you find some time to be creative.

This snowy scene above was created using stamps from Pretty Pink Posh, and colored with Copic markers.  Cute!

Stamp of Approval . . . 2 Cards . . . 2 Challenges

Finally found some time today to get back to creating, and I really enjoyed it.  I had some brand new product to play with from Stamp of Approval's latest release, Lovely Notes.  I couldn't wait to get busy today.

First up was a challenge from Stamp Ink Paper, which was a black and white challenge.  Here is my card . . .

Stamping and embossing was the name of the game for this one . . . super simple . . . as always the hardest part is keeping the embossing powder where it needs to be.

And then for my second card, a little creation for Freshly Made Sketches using some pattern papers.  Trying to use my stash, which we all know is never an easy task.

Here is the sketch . . .
And here is my card . . .

Pattern papers and a splash of black, and using my new SOA products.  What can be better.

I hope you found some time to create today.

You Are Awesome - Inspired by Just Add Ink

I have had extremely little time to stamp, and it's frustrating because I have new stamp items just calling me to come play.  I did break away on Sunday to create a card and used Just Add Ink for inspiration.  Here is their inspiration photo . . .

JAI #309-Inspiration

And here is my card . . .

I have to very seriously . . . SERIOUSLY . . . say that I'm in love with that chevron stamp set.  IN LOVE.  And this color palette is fabulous.

The stamp sets and the "You" die is from Stamp of Approval, which I believe has sold out.  But I am sure that the product will be sold down the road individually.  Let me say that if you've not checked out Stamp of Approval, you should.  It is awesome stuff.

Awesome!

I hope you find some time to get all inkified!

Cheers!
