Merry Mojo Monday

Every once in a while I like to combine the Merry Monday challenge with the Mojo Monday challenge, and when I saw the two this week, I knew exactly where I was going.

The challenge at Merry . . .

The sketch at Mojo . . .

And here is my card . . .

I love this Lil' Inkers Jingle Bell die, and my mind went right to it when I saw these two challenges.

I hope you found some time to be creative this weekend.  Cheers!

StampNation News and Some Challenge Cards

Sharing some news from my favorite crafty place, and a couple of cards to share as well.

First, my crafty place, StampNation, is having their 5th birthday celebration.  When I say that StampNation is my favorite crafty place, I could not mean it more.  I love everything about it and have since I joined over four years ago.

For the birthday celebration, it is all about stencils.  StampNation has a stencil class going on this past week and heading into next week.  There are videos and tutorials, and the membership is posting their take on the lessons.  It's all about stencils.  If you have stencils and ink, or even if you don't . . . it's a place for inspiration.  I hope you will check it out.  Here is a sneak peek of a card I created using stencils.  This is one with a masculine flair . . .

You can check out the full card on StampNation.

And now to share a few cards.  Here is one created for CAS on Sunday.  Their challenge this week was a winter card.

A winter thank you card seemed appropriate--it's chilly this week.  I let the pattern paper do the talking, and I stamped a monotone sentiment.

And my second card today was created for Mojo Monday.  One of the things I like to do with sketches is flip them.  And that's what I did today.  Here is the sketch . . .

 And here is my card . . . flipped a bit . . .

You never have to fully follow a sketch exactly.  You can take a little creative license, which I did here.

This is a pretty Clean and Simple card.  I used supplies from last year's Simon Says Stamp card kit from February . . . I must be thinking ahead to clean out the old supplies, and bring in the new.

I hope you find some time to create today!

Color Challenge Inspiration

I have three color challenge cards to share today, and all were created using my October Studio Calico kit, so you'll see some similarities in the colors.

The first card was inspired by the colors in the Color Throwdown Challenge #318 (the color palette is posted further below with my supply list).  For this one, I used the sketch (also below) from this week's Mojo Monday

The darker blue color is hard to see in the photo . . . it is the inking of the paper and the blue script in the pattern paper.

The second card is very similar to the first, but has a slightly different color variation which is from this week's Colour Me Challenge (palette is posted below).

Similar paper and stamps, with a few different elements.  I love the wood veneer heart and the "hello" tile from the kit!

And then finally, my third card was inspired by the colors in the Colour Q Challenge.  This one had a very deep orange/red shade (Dusty Durango) which allowed me to use the apple stamp that was in the kit.  Since I didn't have Dusty Durango ink, I used the closest thing to it . . . Tangerine Tango.  My apple looks a little on the orange side, but I think it still looks like an apple.

I was back and forth on whether I should put the sentiment in the apple, create another element such as a banner or a circle, but in the end decided the sentiment on that pattern paper would be the best option.  Once I placed that little veneer heart on the apple, it all came together!

One kit . . . four challenges . . . three cards!  I hope you find some time to create.

Mr. and Mrs. for Mojo Monday

I created a wedding card for this week's Mojo Monday.  Here is my card . . .

I used black and white elements with a touch of a very pale blue that appears gray in these photos.  Here is the sketch:

Loving that delicate heart border die!

This one is earmarked for someone special and will be out of my house by tomorrow!

Make some time to create this week.

Sending Prayers & Love . . . for Mojo Monday

Pulled together some supplies to work on the Mojo Monday sketch, and here is my card . . .

Most of the supplies for this card came from the June Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, although I used the stamps that had just arrived from the July kit.  I was guilty of showing up to a crop with the June Kit minus the stamp set that came with it . . . and so we make do!

One thing I did a little different (hard to see in the photo) is that the diagonal stripe paper on the left side has a folded edge which gives the card some dimension (see that shadow).

Loving these soft colors!  I have more cards to share using these same supplies, they are still being "tweaked", so stay tuned.

Merry Mojo Monday Combo

I decided to combine the Merry Monday and Mojo Monday challenges to create a card . . .

And here is the result . . .

Blushing Bride ink from Stampin' Up created my background, along with a Cover-a-card Snowflake stamp (although hard to see those snowflakes).  Pink, silver and white . . . not traditional Christmas colors, but a gorgeous combination for a holiday card.

This one shows a little shine.  One card closer to being prepared for the holidays thanks to Merry Monday.

Cheers!

A Pocketful of Thanks

I combined two challenges to come up with today's card . . .  using my Paper Smooches stamps for their Anything Goes challenge, and the sketch challenge from Mojo Monday.  Here is my card . . .

I used two sets to create the card.  The first was the new Denim & Daisies set and the second was the Kissables 2 set.  The full, solid pocket stamp was inked up, and then I "kissed" the stamp with the Kissables set to pull color away and give it that awesome texture. Here is the sketch from Mojo Monday . . .

Loving that little pocket!

I want to try this "kissing" technique with some blue . . . it has that acid wash look to it.  And I even decorated the inside just a bit . . .

Merry and Mojo Monday Creations

I am posting two creations today, one for Merry Monday and one for Mojo Monday

Merry Monday's challenge . . .

I used slate and white for my card, although to get the photo to show the sparkle of my embossing, it looks darker than slate.

I combined two Impression Obsession stamps to create my focal image.  I stamped the "Couple with Tree" stamp first, leaving off the bottom trail of footsteps in the snow so that it would just circle the musical title of the Silent Night stamp, where I only used the top portion of the stamp.  I stamped in Smoky Slate first, and then stamped a bit off with Versamark and used Iridescent Ice embossing powder to get the shimmer.

For Mojo Monday, I used this months stamp and die set from The Stamps of Life coupled with a lot of scraps from my scrap bag.

I just love this set.  I created my jars using white Xpress cardstock and coloring with my Copic Markers.  The jar labels were created using pattern papers in my stash . . . Little Yellow Bicycle and Doodlebug, to be exact.  Here is the sketch that inspired the card . . .

As I color with my Copics, I realize that I really do need to invest in some additional shades.  I do like the end result, but I think additional shades would really bump me up a notch.  Someday!

For the peanuts, I used my Colorless Blender 0 to take away color and give my shell some texture.

Merry Christmas for Mojo Monday

Last week was incredibly busy at work.  I always notice that when I'm busy at work, and exhausted at night, there is no "creating" happening throughout the week.  It definitely leaves me feeling "blah!"

Yesterday I spent the day with friends at a crop, and it allowed the opportunity for me to get my crafting mojo back.  And today, what better way to celebrate my mojo return than creating a card for Mojo Monday.  Here is the sketch . . .

And here is my card . . .

I combined stamps from three sets to create this card.  The stitching is from Paper Smooches.  The candy cane is from The Stamps of Life.  The sentiment is from Precious Remembrance.

Kit Kraft Wednesday - CTMH Stamp of the Month

This week's Kit Kraft Wednesday was all about using this month's Stamp of the Month from Close To My Heart, which I just fell in love with.  It's a trendy fox.  What's not to love about a trendy fox.  Now in order to get the stamp set for $5.00, I of course had to stock up on some paper, and my choice for a paper kit was Lollydoodle.  I just love those bright, springy colors.  I had already gotten the Lollydoodle card kit, so this time I set out to get the full paper pack.  I combined the paper with elements from the card kit (sequin and glitter tape).

I also incorporated this week's Mojo Monday sketch to create my card.  Here is the sketch . . .

And also incorporated into the card was last week's Heart 2 Heart Challenge which was "Hearts Galore."  Those little hearts remind me of those tasty conversation hearts.

Adorable stamp set and only available until the end of the month.

First Holiday Card - 2014 - for Mojo Monday

I decided to play along with this weeks' Mojo Monday Sketch Challenge

Armed with some leftovers from my stash that I worked with over the holidays, I created a little something . . .

The pattern paper is from Doodlebug, and the stamps are from Simon Says Stamp, which was a recent discovery of mine.  I am loving their stamps, as they are super adorable.

So this would be Card #1 for Christmas 2014. I'm off to any early start!
