The Card Concept 1 - Garden of Daisies

New year and new challenge!  This one is brand new.  It's called The Card Concept, and it's a bi-weekly challenge with loads of designers of varying styles, and the designers explain their inspiration and create cards in that style.  You then create a card in one of the styles and link up!

Easy right?  My question . . . is it harder to create in a style or figure out your style?  I'm such a hybrid.

I am going to go with  Clean and Layered, which means . . .

  • clean lines
  • lots of layers
  • designer papers/embossing
  • embellishments/accents
  • clean and fresh looking
  • some coloured images at times
  • white space

For the photo inspiration, I was inspired by the separation of busy and calm, in that the bottom of the card had a busy city environment, and the top was a quiet dark sky.  So I created my own busy background using the suggested color palette, and I kept the top of my card a little more simplistic.

I created my own pattern paper using stamps, and I popped the top of my design.  I've got some layers happening.  I have fairly clean lines (I've been called linnear by friends).

Now my StampNation group also had a challenge, which was to create a card with a family sentiment, so that is where I got the inspiration for my sentiment . . .

I have to say that I'm looking forward to seeing what The Card Concept has in store for their next challenge.  Fun times, indeed!

  1. Great job on the card. I love making my own patterned paper, too--and you showed a great example of how easy it is to make patterns in the colors you need. Thank you, also, for the close-up. I saw the black is actually a linen look. Visually interesting while keeping it simple. Way to go! :-) -B
