Happy Card for Color Hues

I'm sharing a card that was inspired by Color Hues the color challenge.  I can always get on board with anything Kraft . . . and the color choices were yellow and kraft.

My yellow is in the form of Shea Butter Ink and a Catherine Pooler Designs background stamp.  My kraft is in the form of Desert Storm cardstock from Neenah.

I hope you find some time to create . . . the weekend is coming!

Texture from Negative Border Die Pieces

A little bit of texture for Seize the Birthday challenge.  My texture was added using the negative pieces from a border die that I saved on my desk.  I have this tray of unending small pieces.

I let my pattern paper pave the way for where my sentiment and those texture pieces would go.

I hope you find some time to use your negative cover plate die pieces.

Jack-O-Lantern Shaped Card for Try It On Tuesday

Tried something fairly new for Try It On Tuesday where the prompt was Halloween Time.  I don't do a lot of shaped cards, so I wanted to try out this die that I've had for a while.

I love the look of that pattern paper, even though it had nothing to do with Halloween.  In fact, it was from a bright summer pack of paper.  But it works.

I'm off to create some things and hope you find some time to do the same.

Using my nautical stuff for a challenge at Use Your Stuff Challenge Blog.

I stamped my background, which matched nicely with the pattern paper that was added in.  And oh, that embossing glitter from Wow . . . WOW!  I do love how that anchor turned out.

I hope you find some time to create today!

Taking the Positive with the Negative - Take 1

I'm such a hoarder of scraps that I've made a conscious decision to use my positive and negative die pieces immediately so I don't have small bags of scraps hanging around in my crafty space.  Not to mention, they are easier to piece together if you use them at the same time, as you can place your negative pieces easier when you have the positive framework as a guide.

I was inspired by the World Card Making Day Event at StampNation to create a card using all pieces from the die.  I wanted to post them together so you can see the value in using it all, and I've started a few other cards, hence the "Take 1", as you'll see some other creations down the road.

So here is the first of my two cards.  Let's start with the positive die creation.  I used a stencil from Catherine Pooler Designs and watercolor with emboss resist for my background, and then cut a frame to create a shaker card.

I was not a fan of how the embossing in some areas was heavier than others, but then I die cut the piece and it really adds some interest.  I turned this piece into a Halloween card using some stamps from Close To My Heart.

So then a I had to get to work with the negative pieces.  Most would toss them, but can't get rid of my scraps.  For this one, I flipped in the other direction and went with a fall themed card using my newest Club Sursee set.

I brought in some complimentary colors of ink and couldn't not have been happier with how this one turned out.  I think the design on that thermos went well with the design of the stencil.

While these aren't traditional fall colors (the purple), used muted tones for this one.  Entering it in Try it on Tuesday where the prompt was all about fall colors.

I can't wait to play with some other pieces on my table, and I encourage you to "take the positive with the negative" both in crafting and in life.

Cheers - and go get inky.

Some Critters for AAA Birthday

Created a card with critters for AAA Birthday . . .

I adore House Mouse stamps.  For this one I wanted to create one of those delicious looking rainbow swirl lollipops.

And I always forget that even though there is a theme, House Mouse & Friends is "Anything Goes" with an optional theme.  So I'm not "in theme" but sharing my card with them today.

 Yumminess!  (Is that a word?)

I hope you found some time to create today.

Celebrate!

"Celebrate" was the prompt this week at Little Red Wagon.  I decided to do some creating with inks, shaving cream and a fireworks stencil.  Red, white and blue . . .

The red is subtle in the fireworks.  I also used the paper towel that I used for blotting my stencil on the paper after to add some light splotches of color which I think added some interest.

I am late for this year's 4th, so I'll have to hold this one aside to send next year.  It was fun to create.

Recommendation:  grab some ink, a stencil and some shaving cream and get busy!  Fun.

Getting Messy for SOS - Trick or Treat

I definitely got messy for this Shopping Our Stash challenge.  I felt the pain, as my work area is not near the sink . . . so there was a bit of back and forth to the kitchen between the watercolor and the glitter gel/stencil.

My background piece was watercolor, but I also used watercolor paper for that focal image and did some fill-in coloring of  some images.  I used the Gina K Wreath Builder stencil to great the image.

Love the shimmer of the Glass Bead Glitter from Faber-Castell.

Messy is always fun!  I hope you find some time to get messy with your stash.

A Penguin and a Polar Bear for Christmas Throwdown

I was inspired by Christmas Card Throwdown to create a card with a polar bear and a penguin . . .

These two little critters are not surrounded by traditional holiday colors . . . but they are providing the holiday greetings just as well.

I hope you were able to find time to create yesterday, that you make the time for it today, and that you schedule some time tomorrow!

Missing You Like Crazy for The Paper Players

I saw the "Pets" inspiration at The Paper Players, and I had to play along.

And of course, had to keep my pet safe with a mask.  I used some negative pieces that I had saved from a card I made a very long time ago.  I was about to throw the bag out and said, wait a minute!  These will go nicely with this pattern paper.

I've been creating masks with white cardstock and some straight line scores.  A little twine, and my critters are safe.

I hope you find some time to create.

Perk Up

Anything but a birthday card was the prompt at Sweet Stampin'.  And so, a card just to cheer someone using some of my favorite techniques and products.

From a product perspective I've been playing a lot with the Peeking Pets set from Catherine Pooler.  Can't get enough of those critters peeking out over various objects.  This one is peaking over a coffee cup.  I've also been obsessed with the stencil that created my background strip.

From a technique perspective, I love to stamp on kraft cardstock.  But lately I've been obsessed with using shaving cream, ink and acrylic paint with my stencils.

My dog Lola used to wait for me to leave the room and sip from my coffee. 😏 A happy memory, but also kind of gross.  Lola is the dog pictured on my blog here.  She crossed the rainbow bridge a few years back, but she left us with a boat load of awesome, crazy memories.

Critters saying "Just Breathe"

How about a cute critter for Always Fun Challenge?  Created a few cards for my friends in a few different color combinations.  My favorite combo is the middle one.

My face masks were just white cardstock that I scored and punched a hole.  Added some twine . . . because how else would the cute pups keep them on their faces?

Die I mention this color combo was my favorite?  So tranquil with those clouds.

But I won't lie . . . this last one makes me laugh, as I added a little sentiment.  He's a bit fiesty!

His bark is worse than his bite.

I hope you find some time to create over this long holiday weekend.

Less Monday

Sharing a card I created for a card swap at my favorite crafty place, StampNation. We were inspired by a photo, and I went mostly by color.  But for some reason, there were little Eiffel Towers amongst the soft colors that I saw and flipped in my mind to ice cream cones.

Just can't explain the workings of my crazy mind. This one is off in the mail and should arrive soon.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Peachy Card for Color Throwdown

Attempted a watercolor background piece using the colors in this week's Color Throwdown which were orange, peach, yellow and pink.  For my watercolor piece I used some Catherine Pooler inks in those four shades.

Once the watercolor piece was finished, I cut it with a cover plate die. I then stamped some peachy images for my card.

Hooked on You 4 Cardz 4 Guyz

Sharing a card I made this weekend, inspired by Cardz 4 Guyz.  Their inspiration this week was "Gone Fishing", and I new just the stamp set and just the paper I wanted to use.

I started by creating a ton of fish!  In the end I only used one, because the pattern paper had plenty of fish for my sea.

I found a die in my stash with lots of wavy and puffy borders and cut as many as I could to create my water.

And then I just put it all together.  I used the perfectly sized green sequin for my reel.

And now that I have a pile of fish, I've got more creating to get to.

I hope you found time to create this weekend.

Pulled out a stash of paper and stamps from a kit (a/k/a the kit nearest the top of the pile) and created this card inspired by Freshly Made Sketch.

I used pattern paper that had some diagonals built in.  Pulled in some other supplies from my stash.  I also filled my letters in using some Nuvo Drops for added dimension.

24 Carrot Friend for House Mouse & Friends

The challenge at House Mouse & Friends had an optional element to use a number.  I could not resist matching this sentiment with this adorable House Mouse image.

I colored my image using distress inks and water.  My image is stamped in Versafine Black Onyx ink and then embossed with clear embossing powder.

I just thought that sentiment was perfect.  Glad I found it in my stash.

I hope you find some time to create .  . the weekend is here!

Good in Every Day for Always Fun

This week's prompt at Always Fun Challenges was embossing powders!  I played with a few techniques and powders using this same stamp.

Different colored embossing powders for this one, three with glitter and some white on black . . .

For this next one, it was all watercolor on white embossing, and then multiple inks.  The bumpiness of that watercolor paper made it hard to get embossing ink coverage.

For legibility of my sentiment, I did have to stamp my sentiment on cardstock and cut it out for the circles and banner, and then trim them out.  Did my best to match up the colors.

For my final card, I just used white embossing powder and some ink blending.

Nice and smooth coverage of the embossing powder.

I had fun playing with this stamp and the different embossing powders.
