Thanks - You're a Winner for Kit Kraft Wednesday

Wednesday has a rule . . . in order for me to continue to get any of my monthly kits, I need to produce a card on Kit Kraft Wednesday!  My newest arrival was the May Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, and that's what I used to create the card below.

The card was inspired by three things . . . a sketch from my place for friendship and inspiration, StampNation . . . a recent video that I watched from a Cards for Him class from Catherine Pooler and of course, my card kit which has some very masculine stamps and paper (great timing with the Cards for Him class coming out right around shipment time).

So here is my card which is a masculine thank you card . . .

I combined bold colors for my stamping that would match the pattern paper. On the pinked edge of the Cornerstone Seal die cut, I colored with a distress marker to get a darker tone than sponging alone would provide.

Highly recommend StampNation . . . the card class from Catherine Pooler . . . and my monthly Simon Says Stamp Kit which will really get some use when I finish up the videos from the class.

Cheers!

Tri-color Chevrons for Clean & Simple Stamping

I love to try different color combinations, and this was a combination suggested by a Reverse Confetti challenge from a few days back.  I had the color combo on my mind when I sat down to look at this week's Clean & Simple Stamping sketch.  Here is what I came up with . . .

I think these are great colors for a masculine card.  I used the chevron stamp from Reverse Confetti's Arrows & Elements set.  The sentiment is from Celebrate Cake.  Here is the sketch that inspired the design . . .

And a little decoration for the inside (also from Celebrate Cake).

Sketchy Spring Card for H2H Challenge

Heart 2 Heart's first April challenge was a sketch challenge.  I pulled out my Lollydoodle paper and kit supplies and created a 6 x 6" card.  Here is my card . . .

I used a Kraft card base and from there it was all layering using the sketch that was provided (see below).  I love the fun colors of this paper collection.  The stamp set is Enjoy the Little Things.

Here is the sketch.  All supplies are Close To My Heart.

Guess What Day It Is?

When I hear, "Guess what day it is?" my mind goes to the camel wandering the office indicating it's "Hump Day!"  We have GEICO to thank for that one.

My schedule was off this week at work, and I suddenly realized I was missing my own Wednesday celebration . . . Kit Kraft Wednesday . . . which is the day that I use my kits or lose them.  So while I should have been packing to take off for a weekend and meet a group of awesome stampers, I got busy creating a little something from my Simon Says Stamp Kit.  I decided to use a sketch from The Deconstructed Sketch for inspiration.  Here is my card . . .

A "watt's up" card is the perfect card just to send a note.  I really enjoyed putting this card together, as it had some trendy angles.  The finishing touch on this card was the liquid glass on the light bulb which the light catches a bit better in the photo below . . .

I've noted the sketch below.  And now I'm off to pack for a weekend meeting some crafty friends . . . in person!  Cheers!

All White for Seize the Birthday

This week's Seize the Birthday challenge was white on white.  I absolutely love white on white, but I rarely every use that as inspiration for a card.  I just never think of it, and yet it is gorgeous.

Here is my card . . .

My top layer was embossed using a Sizzix embossing folder.  Aside from the black ink used for my sentiment, everything is white . . . including those "marshmallow" sequins from Pretty Pink Posh.

Merry and Mojo Monday Creations

I am posting two creations today, one for Merry Monday and one for Mojo Monday

Merry Monday's challenge . . .

I used slate and white for my card, although to get the photo to show the sparkle of my embossing, it looks darker than slate.

I combined two Impression Obsession stamps to create my focal image.  I stamped the "Couple with Tree" stamp first, leaving off the bottom trail of footsteps in the snow so that it would just circle the musical title of the Silent Night stamp, where I only used the top portion of the stamp.  I stamped in Smoky Slate first, and then stamped a bit off with Versamark and used Iridescent Ice embossing powder to get the shimmer.

For Mojo Monday, I used this months stamp and die set from The Stamps of Life coupled with a lot of scraps from my scrap bag.

I just love this set.  I created my jars using white Xpress cardstock and coloring with my Copic Markers.  The jar labels were created using pattern papers in my stash . . . Little Yellow Bicycle and Doodlebug, to be exact.  Here is the sketch that inspired the card . . .

As I color with my Copics, I realize that I really do need to invest in some additional shades.  I do like the end result, but I think additional shades would really bump me up a notch.  Someday!

For the peanuts, I used my Colorless Blender 0 to take away color and give my shell some texture.

Inking Up w/Reverse Confetti

I had some time today to play with some of my Reverse Confetti Stamps and to be inspired by a few challenges.  On the top of my list was the challenge on the Reverse Confetti blog, which was a sketch challenge.  Here is my card . . .

I am learning to enjoy white space, and this card has some white space.

Here is the sketch that inspired the card . . .

SFYTT11_Apr14

For my second challenge I combined two challenges, the sketch from Freshly Made Sketches with the colors from Colour Q.

I used stamps to create the vertical border down the left side of my card, and when I inked the edges, I inked based on the the color of the arrows that were showing in that section of the border.  If you look close, the colors change on the edges.

I had a lot of fun creating this card, as I love to create a background using stamps.  These colors were fabulous together (thank you, ColourQ)!

Merry and Bright for Merry Monday

This week's challenge at Merry Monday was to user a snowman on your Christmas card.  I knew just the stamp I wanted to use for the challenge, and here is my card . . .

I stuck to turquoise, silver and white for this card.  I just fell in love with that stamped image from Impression Obsession.  Nothing cuter than a little snow dude being lifted to put the star on the tree by his snow daddy!

I am one card closer to my goal for holiday cards, thanks to Merry Monday!

Discovering Newton's Nook

I love to discover new stamps, and last week I discovered Newton's Nook Designs.  In honor of the discovery and on being the owner of a few new Newton's Nook sets, I played along with their sketch challenge . . .

I chose the Doodlebug paper, as it was bright and cheerful for a birthday card.  Matching up my Copics did prove to be a bit difficult, as my collection has not grown.  The stamp set is so adorable!

Kit Kraft Wednesday - Festive Friday

I had a new arrival in my mailbox, in the form of The Stamps of Life's April stamp and die set.  This month's set is adorable.  I can't wait to really play with the stamps and make some awesome creations, but for now I used it just to create a card for the Festive Friday Challenge.  The photo inspiration included a jar, and there was a jar stamp and die in the set.  Here is the inspiration photo . . .

And here is my design . . .

I stamped the jar in Versamark on vellum and used the die to cut it out.

I see another creation using this awesome set in the next couple of days, so stay tuned.

Colour Me - Monochromatic

I came upon a new challenge called Colour Me, and this week's challenge was a monochromatic one using Pumpkin Pie ink from Stampin' Up.  I decided to play along . . .

I cut my 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock on an angle, cutting at 4 1/4 on one side, and 5 1/2 on the other.  I then trimmed one-half inch from the top so that my flowers could overhang and still fit into an A2 sized envelope.

The sequins really add some fun to the card, as does that Gorgeous Grunge stamp set!  This would be great to make as a set, using a different color for each card.  I'll have to add that to my list!

Happy stamping!

Mistletoe for Merry Monday

With all the stamps in my collection, one would think I would have one that was mistletoe.  I searched high and low, and no mistletoe could be found.  So I set out to create my own for the Merry Monday challenge, and here is my design . . .

I used a leaf stamp from Paper Smooches to create the mistletoe, and I stamped in two different shades of green ink.  I then added some Pretty Pink Posh Marshmallow sequins and punched two holes on either side of my mistletoe to tie a bow.

My sentiment is stamped above three scored lines.  It was a simple card, but fun to create.

Kit Kraft Wednesday - Watt's Up?

It's another Kit Kraft Wednesday, where I use my monthly kits so that I'll never stand of chance of losing them. This week I opted to use the April Simon Says Stamp Card Kit which had a super cute stamp set called "Watt's Up?"   I created two cards and can't wait to dig in and create a few more.

This one was a combination of stripes and polka dots.  I just love the bold bright stripes with that stark black!

My light bulb was created with Avery Elle Pigment ink which I embossed with clear embossing powder.

And here is a second card using the same light bulb stamp with a different sentiment and layout.

Loving the houndstooth paper.  This is such a fun paper pack.
