One Watercolor Background - Two Cards

I love creating with both positive and negative pieces of dies.  Posting two cards today where I put my negative pieces to use.

First, I created watercolor background with some emboss resist.  Then I cut it with a cover die.

The first card uses the full die . . .

Submitting this one to Watercooler Wednesday challenge, which had the prompt occasions!  This one is going to a friend who is newly engaged.  I put this one on a white background.   I stacked my sentiment die on a layered tag.

I then cut another die using cream cardstock and used pieces from the die as pops of color/elements for my flowers. I used a sketch from one of my favorite crafty plates.  Submitting this one to Happy Little Stampers Anything Goes with Dies

I always love using my extra pieces.

I hope you find some time to create, and perhaps use extra pieces that might otherwise land in the trash!

I used one of my favorite border dies from Catherine Pooler Designs and a pack of paper that has been at my fingertips for holiday/winter creations these days.

And pink!  There was some pink.

StampNation Inspired

Sharing a card inspired my favorite crafty place, StampNation.  They have some weekly inspiration going on right now and this week had a watercolor technique that I'd not tried before.

I created the watercolor background with reinkers.  I love adding the cover plate die, as it hides any of the parts of the watercolor that I might not have been fond of.

I hope you found some time to create today.

Toucan Do It for Color Throwdown

Saw the colors at Color Throwdown and was inspired to create.

Used a watercolor background that had the colors in the sketch, blue, purple, light blue, and green, and cut it with a cover plate die.

Then added just enough color for my toucan, who needed some spot of yellow.  I used a blender pen to color my images, which were on regular cardstock.

I have another watercolor panel and may need to create a similar card in that color scheme . . . but that's slated for another day.

I hope you found some time to create today, and if not, there is always tomorrow.

The sketch at Freshly Made Sketches sparked my creativity.  I pulled down a box of supplies from a kit and went to work.  I started by creating a watercolor piece to represent one of those borders.

Build my design on a colored cardstock base . . . steering away from my typical white base.

Go find something to create!

Celebrate Envelope for The Card Concept

I got a bit crafty today, inspired by the challenge at The Card Concept.  I never know quite where I fall from a style perspective.  I think this one is still clean and layered, even though I used a bulky element when creating this card.

I was mostly inspired by the background color and the bright blooms.  I had these envelopes which were supposed to be an envelope album.  But I've been saving those for cards, a gift card could tuck in nicely, or a personal note.  I used some coordinating paper to stamp on.  So I stamped my sentiments and cut my Celebrate die, and then assembled this card.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Tic-Tac-Toe for Tuesday Throwdown

Went with the second row for the challenge at Tuesday Throwdown . . . . used green, a die and a stencil.

And maybe there were a few dies and a few shades of green.  My background piece was created using a few shades of green ink and some shaving cream.  Then I used a stencil to get the darker green dots on my background.

My original die was the sentiment die.  But I had an extra butterfly and those white negative die pieces cluttering my work surface.  They made their way onto the project.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Vintage for Cardz 4 Guys

When I saw "vintage" as the prompt at Cardz 4 Guys, I new I had to play long with some paper that I had off to the side of my work table.

I don't own a lot of vintage stamps, so while there was ink for inking, there was no no ink for stamping.  I used pattern papers from an old button farm kit that I couldn't part with.  I did enjoy making the tag, which has a vellum background and a kraft paper string.

Something different . . . keeps me being crafty.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Mommy-to-Bee for SOS

Created a card for my friend, a mommy-to-be, and I used an old kit in my stash!  Just had to enter it in this weeks Shopping Our Stash

I colored my bees using a blender pend and some inks.  And I created my card on pattern paper.  Love that heart heart shaped stitched bee trail.  I love how the mommy bee is holding her belly anticipating what is to come.

Creating in Covid helps to pass the time!  I hope you find some time to create.

Moment of Magic for House Mouse & Friends

The challenge at House Mouse & Friends was anything goes, with the optional theme of "better together".

For my frame, I cropped corners and wrapped a bit of ribbon on my corners.  I love all my House Mouse stamps, but always love images that feature other critters.  And I love trying to find sentiments that speak to those images.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Smile!

A box of supplies, some dies and some acetate.  Hoping this can create a smile, inspired by the prompt at The Paper Players.

A shaker with the word "smile" has to create a smile.  Or maybe some distracting shaking in these odd times.

My fun challenge for this card was getting that twine to stick to the acetate and create that frame.  And I used stuff I had on hand!

All good stuff.  Hope you find some time to create soon.

Mommy to Be - Inspired by TIME OUT

When I saw the challenge at TIME OUT Challenges, all that black and yellow, I had to play around.  Black and white and any color makes me smile.

While I wanted to do stripes, I happened to be going thru some boxes of old kits and found a stash of black and yellow pattern paper.  And so I got busy as a bee . . .

So there are all sorts of shapes here . . . stripes in hexagons, and hexagons made of "stripes".

I used a blender pen and some ink to color my bee.

I had fun creating this one, inspired by TIME OUT Challenges and a box of old supplies from a Simon Says Stamp set.

I hope you find some time to create.

Sunday Stash Day - You are a Super Hero.

Today was my day to use paper in my stash, and try to make a dent in old supplies.  So I pulled out a box and got busy making a card, this one inspired by the word prompt of "Hero" at Just Us Girls.

Now I was inclined to make a card honoring our medical folks that are out in the field, but I didn't have any good medical stamps or dies.  So I went with just a festive card to put a smile on a hero's face.

I used paper from an old kit from The Stamps of Life with a great sentiment die and stamp set from them as well.  For ink, my sentiments, the black stars within the circles in the pattern paper, and I inked my edges to give a crisp look before popping them on my card.

Tomorrow is a new day . . . go be creative!

Refuse to Sink - Cardz 4 Guyz Inspired

I created this card for Cardz 4 Guyz.  The challenge was to use a die as the main feature of the card.

And so I created a nautical wheel using an awesome die from Catherine Poolder Designs and some crazy cool embossing powder from Wow.  It's a bit different for sure.  Love that powder.

I hope you were able to find some time to create today.

Luscious for TSOT

The prompt at Try Stampin' on Tuesday was "luscious", and it came along with a sketch as well (posted further below).  I decided to play along using way more flowers and layers than I would usually use.

Now the sketch had a circle that was the center focal point.  I changed that up a bit with a sentiment that spans across my card.

Not my normal, but a challenge for sure, and a fun card to create.

I hope you found some time to create today.

Forest and Dear Inspired Holiday Card

I was inspired by the prompt at Christmas Card Throwdown which had the prompt of "forest and deer".  I couldn't wait to play along.

I used some pattern paper in my stash that I knew was perfect for a winter forest.  There are some deer in the background!  To that, I added some Lawn Fawn creatures.

And one more holiday card to add to my stash!

Go be creative!

Thinking of You for CAS(E) this Sketch

So a bit of a stretch for a sketch, but I love stretching a sketch.

Here is my take on this week's CAS(E) his Sketch, where I flipped to landscape.

Went with yellow roses for this card. The color yellow speaks to sun and warmth.  Friendship and optimism.  Who doesn't need all of that during these difficult times.

I hope you find some time to create today.
