Watercolor Creation for Color Throwdown

Created a little something inspired by the color combo at Color Throwdown . . .

I've been really trying to get into watercolor backgrounds the last few days so I used the color combo, made a watercolor background and then used a cover plate to create my dotted background.

I matched up some jewels to the colors and put them on my vellum sentiment.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Creating Outside Comfort Zone

The challenge at Sweet Stampin' was "Pretty in Pink".  I channeled pink using supplies on my desk.

Preface this by saying this is not my norm.  But I wanted to play with putting a background stamp to cardstock, adding some shimmering embossing powder, and then using some punches in my stash that I'd not used in YEARS.

No joke, years.

Not sure I love the card . . . love that background stamp.   And I do love some tone on tone.

The curve on that front panel is interesting.

I hope you find some time to create outside of your comfort zone.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Circles for Always Fun

The inspiration prompt at Always Fun Challenges this week was Circles.  I created a card using some circle paper and circle dies.

I used supplies from an old kit that I had hanging out in my craft room.  The pattern paper outlining the sentiment "amazing" has pattern paper in the same font as the die.   I tried to find the best cut so that the word would show.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Anything But a Card

Anything but a card was the prompt at Always Fun Challenges.  So I made a little gift box with a tag.

No stamping required . . . just creation of a box from scratch.  I notched the bottom with a circle punch, and embellished with some ribbon.

I hope you find some time to create today!

Inspired by Little Red Wagon

I clearly go in waves with creating . . . blame it on my day job.

But I was inspired to make a card using scraps from a scrapbook layout, and I made a card inspired by Little Red Wagon's challenge, "Dog Days of Summer".  And that led to more cards because I was "that" inspired.  Love using my stuff.

Linking up one of my cards, but sharing them all.

This first one will just be a blank note to send to someone . . . someone who knows me and my love of my puppie . . .

The one I'm linking up speaks summer to me . . . I mean come on, if you're a working girl like me, you are longing for those shiny weekends.  It means more time with my pups in the sun!

Had to throw in a card using similar design, but a completely different sentiment.

I'll be bummed when I have to use that . . . and then finally, and another blank note card . . .

I do love using my scraps.  You find my original layouts using these papers and stamps here.  I hope you will check it out.

Now go use up some scraps.

Merry & Bright Greetings for Shopping Our Stash

I was inspired to create a Christmas card using my stash of items from leftover holiday kits.  My thanks to Shopping Our Stash for the inspiration to really use stuff in my craft room.

For this one, I used sentiments that were on a 6 x 6 piece of pattern paper, and lined them up in different lengths and widths for added interested.

This kit was from Simon Says Stamp "back in the day" so it was fun to revisit.  Still plenty of pattern papers to be used.

I used the overall stamped sentiment of "Merry & Bright Greetings" in the upper corner that sums it all up.

I hope you find some time to create . . . and to shop your own stash.

Cheers.

Transport for Cards 4 Guys

This week's prompt at Cards 4 Guys was "Transport".  I know that my husband would love to do nothing more than travel via boat anywhere.  So I went with a sailboat, because on our bucket list is a sailing trip . . . one day . . .

Now yes, I did wonder about that scallop border being a bit feminine . . . but it reminded me of water, so I felt it appropriate.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Double Inspired Watercolor Card

My card today was inspired by two challenges.  The color palette was inspired by Always Fun . . .

I decided to create a watercolor background in an "occasion" theme, inspired by Watercooler Wednesday Challenge.  My occasion . . . early start . . . Mother's Day.

My occasion . . . early start . . . Mother's Day.  I had so much color on that background piece, that I decided to go black and white with the flowers stamp/die piece.

I hope you find some time to create this weekend.

Literature Inspired by The Library Challenge

My card today was inspired by The Library Challenge's book cover, Five Weeks in a Balloon.  Here is the book cover . . .

five weeks in a balloon book - Google Search

For my card I was inspired to use some Graphic 45 paper and paper piece my balloon image using a stamp and die from The Stamps of Life.

I split by sentiment for added interest.  Lots of inking and popping of images, and I love those little postage stamps.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Repeating for Repeat Day

Celebrating "Repeat Day" with Little Red Wagon . . . their inspiration for this week was to repeat an item, stamp, etc. on a card.

The dogs repeat, but my real repeat element were the bones.

Inspired by The Paper Players

Created a little something using the tic-tac-toe board on The Paper Players challenge blog. So many options, but I went with that top row . . . ribbon, patterned paper, die cut . . . and here is my card.

I used a stand-up base for my card.  This is what it will look like out of the envelope.  And once stood up . . .

So a few pattern papers, and some ribbon and technically a few dies.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Punny Card for Shopping Our Stash

Created a punny card for the challenge at Shopping Our Stash.  I pulled from a Simon Says Stamp card kit, so this one doesn't match my current weather here.

Did a bit of doodling on the edge of the card base which is a bit out of my comfort zone.

I hope you find some time to create today!

Phew . . . I'm Back!

I am finally back to creating again.  Things have been wicked busy with family vacation, family visiting, and just overall chaos.  I'm so happy to have my fingers all inky again.

And what can get you creating . . . a good challenge. And so Use Your Stuff had a challenge for using stickers.  Not something I use often in card making, but I have this amazing card kit in my stash that had sticker . . . easy card making for sure.

I used the sticker with the bicycle and the "thinking of you" sentiment.  So not a lot of stickers, but stickers!

I hope you have some time to create!

Heart Happy Workshop Kit from CTMH

I got creative with some projects using supplies from Close To My Heart this month, fully intending to play along with some challenges at Heart 2 Heart.  It's been a while since I've played along . . . just trying to do better and create.  While I started a few weeks back, I completed my items today.

I used paper from the Heart Happy Workshop Kit along with various stamp sets.  I always create my layouts first, and then make cards with my scraps.

So here are a few layouts, inspired by this months' challenge at Heart 2 Heart, starting with the National Scrapbook Month challenge.  My pictures are still on order, but here is a layout inspired by the challenge.

I had to couple those awesome papers and colors with the Paw Prints on my Heart stamp set.

Check out my "O" . . . with that precious little face!  And the other side of my two page spread . . .

Some paw prints on the banner.

Now again, I always create my layouts first, and then my cards.  So "For the Love of Pets", I created another layout.  When I saw this paper, I had to tie it together to make some pet pages.  My pictures . . . on their way thru snail mail.  But my layouts are ready.

I made a few of those "Heart Diagrams".  It spoke to me.

And then the "Besties" inspiration . . . here is a card that I'll send to a bestie!  I can't help but think about Grey's Anatomy . . . Meredith and Christina . . . "You're My Person".

And then finally . . . something "Minty".

Festive Shaker Card

The Card Concept inspired this clean and layered card.  Here is their inspiration photo:

I was inspired by the medallions.  I had some paper on my table that I just knew I had to revisit and do some creating.

I had paper with circular, medallion like looks, and there were epoxy stickers that I used to tie some things together.

Behind those shutters is a window to a shaker . . .

I got a bit festive from that point forward.

I hope you find some time to create today.

Rainboot Craze!

I fell in love with this die from Simon Says Stamp.  Several weeks back I had cut pieces from pattern paper, and stashed them in an envelope.  I was inspired to create a card for another challenge which is in a previous post.  Last night I started cutting more pieces and completed two more cards piecing parts together for and Anything Goes theme at Happy Little Stampers

With the exception of the card base and those white postage stamp background pieces, this is all pattern paper.  Even the tulips in the boot were cut from a large gingham background piece in the paper pack, hence the variation in color.

Similar look to this next one, but instead of cutting a different rim, I just used Glossy Accents to highlight them.  I love these yellow boots!

And these patterns in this pack are amazing.  Love them.

I killed the paper pack, but I haven't seen the end of that boot die.  Love it.

I hope you find some time to create today.
