June 2017 - A Year of Card Making Techniques - Basic Card Folds Using Double-sided Paper

Welcome to A Year of Card Techniques Blog Hop where each month we feature a different card technique.  We’ve assembled a team of card makers who range from new to advanced, so you’ll see a great variety of cards and ideas.
June‘s hop is devoted to basic card folds; featuring drapery/curtain fold, peek-a-boo fold or double-z gate-fold.  And we’re adding a twist of using double-sided paper.   We hope this gives you lots of ideas and will inspire you to try these card folds yourself...and pull out that double-sided paper as well!    If you would like to check out our past technique hops, you can do that here:
We have an amazing sponsor this month, Candy Spiegel.
Please take a moment to check out all the crafty goodness on her blog, Candy Scraps.
And the awesome prize this month is:

And speaking of winners, the lucky hopper from last month is SUSAN ELIOT; picked by Random Name Picker.  Congratulations, Susan!  Please get in touch with last month’s sponsor, Jodie Park, to claim your prize.
You should  have arrived here from Candy Scraps. If you're visiting  here first, you might want to start at the beginning so you don't miss a thing and increase your chances of winning by commenting on  each blog.

I have three cards to share with you today, as I wanted to be sure to try all of the folding techniques.  First up is  a card featuring the drapery/curtain fold, and for this card I used some double sided paper from Close To My Heart's Ariana collection.  It came with an amazing stamp with a quote by Oprah Winfrey.

I love the striped paper that is peaking between the pleats.  And it's hard to see, but the sentiment was embossed with silver embossing powder.

Second up is a card with the double-z gate fold.  Now I will tell you that my card got a little wild . . . that pattern paper was leftover from a scrapbook layout I worked on a few weeks ago, and I didn't want to throw it out . . . and yet I never thought I could use it on a card.  But then comes the double-z gate fold and I was proven wrong.

Busy and crazy paper, for sure.

And I have to say . . . that little ticket just hit the spot.  Since the card ends up being 4 inches, the ticket can hang off the edge and still fit in the envelope!  This was a really fun technique.

And then finally, my favorite of the three . . . peek-a-boo fold.

This card started as one thing and ended as something else.  the sentiment was going to be where the bunny was . . . and the bunny was going to be somewhere else on the card . . . and I was going to use the reverse side of the pattern paper . . . and the folds were going to be on the right!

Proof that sometimes things do not work as we planned.
I am the last stop on the hop!  I certainly hope you had fun and thanks for stopping by.  See you next month with another technique!

And I hope you find some time to create today.

  3. Super job on all three cards. I can't decide on my favorite, but maybe the bunny! I like that you moved the window to the left - most I've seen are on the right. And that paper is adorable.
