My Take on Muse Challenge #134

Well, I have to admit that this is not my typical card, but I love the result.  This is a combination of the Muse Challenge #134, whose muse inspiration is noted here . . .

And a challenge at my craft place, StampNation, to use a resist technique.  With supplies collected, I set out to work.  

One of the things you will note in my supply list . . . Stampin' Up ink.  I was setting out to use a regular dye ink to create a watercolor card.  Here is the result . . .

You'll notice that the colors are very muted, which is a great look.  Keep in mind I was using very subtle colors - Daffodil Delight and Pool Party.  I love the subtlety and the way the white embossing powder resisted the inks.  And do you see some of those watermarks from the watercolor? 

Again, not my typical style, but I love this card.

Blank Canvas for Paper Smooches

I've been absent from stamping for a bit, so was thrilled to get back at it earlier today.  I created a little something for this week's Paper Smooches Sparks Challenges, which was "Anything Goes."

For this card I used my neon pigment inks which are fun to use because the color tends to layer.  I originally was going to "paint" my canvas with some color, but then decided that canvas needed to be blank. 

Fun stamp, and I adore that canvas die!

Colour Me Color Combo

Oh, I had some fun with this one.  I created this card for Colour Me, and I have to say this is one of my favorite color combinations.  This one became very popular about three years ago, and I've loved it ever since.  The specific colors from Stampin' Up were Lost Lagoon and Real Red.  They look fabulous . . .

I used the Striped Scallop Thinlits die, but only used a portion of it.  I took the inside pieces and stamped them with that Real Red and Lost Lagoon ink, using the Six-Sided Sampler set and then piecing it all back together.  Love the bold colors!

Freshly Made Meets Color Throwdown

I created this card today using the color combination suggested at Color Throwdown and the sketch at Freshly Made Sketches. 

Here is my card . . .

For this card I used a stencil from Hero Arts and sponged white ink.  I was going to just shift the stencil by a tiny bit, but something told me to flip it and get more of a gingham look.  So I flipped and then sponged on the color. 

 I also die cut a window and a frame for the window using cross-stitch circle dies from My Favorite Things.  Of course, that meant I had to create something for that window.  I created a bit of a scene. 

 

I colored my images using the same inks from the outside of the card, and I used a Dove blender pen.

 The netting was fun to play with, and I think the sequins are like drops of water. 

Love how this one turned out, and it fits criteria for a masculine card - always a plus.

3 for Heart 2 Heart

Three cards to share, all for Heart 2 Heart challenges in August.

Yesterday I shared my Birthday Bash card for the first challenge in August.  First up today is a card for Week 2, which was Ticket to Ride.  Here is my card . . .

 I found this stamp set, Enjoy Your Day, from a few years back, and "enjoy the ride" on ticket seemed appropriate for the challenge.  I used the Brushed paper pack which is gorgeous stuff.  I did add some sequins in to add a little sparkle. 

My next card is for the Good Day Sunshine card.  Now, let me just say that I had some stamp sets with suns on them.  But I was drawn more to the colors of the sun, and creating a card for someone who might make me feel amazing sunny myself.  Here is my card . . .

I created the background for my card using  Dizzy Circles Flair and four different Close To My Heart Colors.  For the sentiment I used Smiles Begin With You, which I think is a beautiful sentiment.  I embossed in white on some vellum and placed it over some matching cardstock.

My third card was for the Working 9 to 5 Challenge.  I work in an office, so of course, some sort of office equipment was going to be my subject matter . . .

Now I wanted some color on my card, so it seemed appropriate to add in some pattern papers from the Brushed paper pack, but I also included  some of that awesome black and white stripe paper from La Vie En Rose

That typewriter image from Typed Note is an amazing image.  While I never used a typewriter from that era, I do love the image.

I love that I've gotten back into the H2H Challenges and hope I can keep it going in September.  I have plenty of supplies, and the challenges are great for using them.

A Zebra and a Pachyderm

I have a few creations to share tonight.

First up is a creation for Color Throwdown combined with the My Favorite Things Sketch.  

Here is my card . . .

 I used pattern papers that had embossing on them.  I also stamped my banner on that blue striped pattern paper so it would blend in.  The zebra was the perfect image for a little black and white. 

 

Next up is a card for Heart 2 Heart's first challenge of this month which was "Birthday Bash."  For this card I used some new supplies that I had recently received from Close To My Heart.  Love how this card turned out.  

I cut strips of the pattern paper and alternated them side by side leaving a tiny bit of white background showing.  I then embossed the star background and made a trio of tags for my little forgetful  pachyderm.

Peace, Love and Sparkly Stuff

I nearly forgot to post this card tonight, which is a mix of two challenges . . . the sketch at Reverse Confetti combined with the color combination suggested at Merry Monday . . .

Now, I did add one additional color  . . . the craft cardstock.  I wanted something other than green, white or red for that top panel so my ribbon and holly embellishment would show . . . so in with a kraft colored cardstock.

For the tag, to get the dark and light green, I did a direct to paper color swipe of a Hero Arts Ombre Ink pad.  Love this effect on the tag.

So glad to get back into Merry Monday holiday mode . . . I've got lots of cards to create before the Christmas season is upon me.

The color inspiration speaks for itself, and I will say these are some awesome colors together.  What intrigued me on the photo of the bottle was the glittery images up against the glass container.  It inspired me to create a flat shaker with flat confetti where it is pressed against the clear plastic window. 

My first flat shaker!  I definitely want to make more.

Make a Wish Inkspirational Challenge

This week's Inkspirational Challenges Word Prompt was MELT!  I thought about snow.  I thought about ice.  But it's way too soon to think about winter, so I landed on candles . . . birthday candles!  I made a little shaker card . . .

And I also managed to melt some embossing powder for my "Make a Wish" sentiment.  I love to watch embossing powder melt across one of my projects.  There's nothing quite like the power of a heat gun.  Mesmerizing! 

Was pleased with how this one turned out . . . those beads are so fun and colorful.

Pretty Patterns for CAS-ual Fridays

I am absolutely hooked on some new product that I got from my Stamp of Approval box from Catherine Pooler.   It was loaded with some supplies created by CAS-ual Fridays which I used on my card for the challenge this month which was "pretty patterns".  I was also inspired by a StampNation challenge a few weeks back, which was "Friends". 

I used the Curtis Background and Girlfriend stamps to create my card, along with the Friend die, all from CAS-ual Fridays.  For the Curtis Background, I used a Hero Arts ombre ink pad, and I didn't use consistent pressure so I could get a bit of a distressed feel to it.  Love the ombre ink!  On the right side of the card base itself, I created a crisp pattern of white embossed phrases and flowers from the Girlfriend stamp, and then added the Friend die in a silver and black layer along with some sequins. 

I just love this Curtis Background stamp and the font on the Girlfriend stamps is so happy indeed!  My understanding is that while the box is sold out, the product within the box will be available for sale in 2016. 

Keep you eye on these products in 2016, and don't miss out on the next Stamp of Approval box which is already in the works.  It is going to be fabulous, I'm sure.  I know that I can't wait!

Creative Sunday

I love a lazy, creative Sunday, and that's exactly what today was for me.

I have three cards to share today for three challenges that inspired me.

First up is this week's Muse Challenge . . . 

I was inspired by the background stamp on the left, although I went with a different color scheme (and different stamps, dies, embellishments . . . but you know what I mean).  

 
I used supplies from my new Stamp of Approval box from Catherine Pooler.  The supplies were from the "friendship" box which has already sold out.  Mine arrived last week, and I will tell you that it has been awesome fun!

My second card was inspired by this week's Freshly Made Sketch . . .

On this card I used supplies from The Stamps of Life's Stamp and Die of the month, and I used pattern papers from the April Card Kit.  I love how this one turned out using felt for the t-shirt.  I have a few more of these in the works.  Oh the possibilities!

And then finally, for Color Throwdown, some colors that leaned a little toward fall . . .

I got matchy, matchy with all the chevron pattern papers.  For the "happiness" sentiment, I started with a piece of white cardstock which I inked up in black.  I then used layers of clear embossing powder.   Super thick and shiny!  Love how it turned out.
