Happy Everything

Monochromatic cards are a favorite of mine. The color combination at Color Dare hooked me right in, and I got inky quick.

For this card, to get some shades in, I used white pigment ink. I love the results here. It allowed me to get several shades.

Try your hand at something monochromatic. Never a disappointment.

Good Coffee . . . Great Friends

I do adore my creative time with shaving cream and ink . . . consider it like the cream in my coffee!

Today's card was inspired by the challenge at Creative Friday - Cafe. No matter what coffee shop I go to, the warm cup and sleeve are so inviting to grab, and amazing coffee brewing smells are incredibly comforting.

I just love the look of those coffee beans, which is where the shaving cream and inks came into play. When I do this technique, I always wish I did it more often. It's a messy one, but it's so fun to see the marbled results.

My coffee cups made me want to hit the local coffee shop for a latte. Yum!

Make some coffee or make something crafty. And have fun!

It's a Boy

Stencils was the challenge this week at Just Us Girls, and I love a good stenciling session. It gets the blood pumping!

And so today, a baby card using some Pretty Pink Posh stencils.

I do love this technique which is perfect for stenciled backgrounds. I used a mix of yellow, blue and green to create this card. While I used only one shade of each color, I varied the heaviness of the blending to get some lighter/darker shades.

What are you waiting for? Use a stencil!

Wishing You a Colorful Day

I had an absolute blast creating this card with it's rainbow of colors using this technique on kraft cardstock.

The sketch was inspired by the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. I did swap out flowers for butterflies.

For this card I stamped my background in both white pigment ink and some bright rainbow colors. I used those same rainbow colors to blend my butterflies.

My one alteration from the sketch was centering my sentiment. Because it was a die, it seems more appropriate to center it.

Take some time to create with a rainbow of colors.

Black, White and a Color for Little Red Wagon

Today's card was inspired by the color challenge at Little Red Wagon. I decided to use a new technique that I learned from an event this summer from Taylored Expressions.

The focal point of this card sits on a floating tag created with acetate. The various strips of cardstock flat on the acetate which is popped on to the background. I chose to make this a sympathy card, as the colors felt calming.

I have the negative of the tag die, so you may see that in a future project.

There was lots of mix and matching of products from different companies in this card, so I hope you can find a way to mix and match!

Tank You for Little Red Wagon

I've been wicked busy crafting and just getting my life together early in 2021!  It was time to play along with a challenge, and so I chose the prompt at Little Red Wagon which was "Die-ing To Get Crafty".  I had to remind myself that it was dies and not dyes!  I love to get inky.

Instead I went for some dies.  All dies, and no stamping.

And so here is "Tank You".  I used a lawn fawn die, and while it cold have been a shaker, I just wanted it to look like a real fish tank.  So there is some acetate on this one for my tank.

My background in the tanb was created using a stencil, a texture paste and some ink blending.

This was a fun one to create.  I hope you find some time to create!

Stencil Background - Days Ending in "Y"

Created my own background for Sweet Stampin' Challenge.  I've really been into the shaving cream/ink/stencil backgrounds. Added some paint to this one to give a certain sheen to my coffee beans.

Mmmm . . . coffee!  I do love the swirl of the brown and orange ink in some of the beans, and then in others there is some texture and the hint of shimmer from the paint.

I hope you find some time to create over this holiday weekend.

Dear Santa, I Can Explain . . .

The prompt at Inkspirational Challenges was "Naughty".  I couldn't resist playing around using a stamp set in my stash that came right into my head.

The sentiment on this stamp set screamed "naughty" to me.  This little guy had to explain himself, as it appears he has lots of letters to Santa . . . not sure what his story is.  Did he take them out of the mailbox?  Did he write multiple letters to Santa?  I can only imagine his naughty story.

I had the mailbox embellishment sticker in a kit, and dug it out.  I thought an actual envelope would make a cool background element for the card, so I created my scene on a scrap of white cardstock with some dimension, and then adhered it to a small envelope for some added dimension.

I hope you are able to carve in some time to create today.
