It's All About the Glitter

Today's card was inspired by the prompt at As You Like It Challenge

What's my favourite? I love gold, I love silver, but anything glitter makes me happy. I especially love white and black glitter papers but honestly will take them all. Something about the way it catches the light just makes me happy.

I used a butterfly set that was part of Concord & 9th's summer camp. The top layer was cut from a watercolor background piece, and then I stacked additional solid white dies to give it a bit of lift. I used that same due to cut from white glitter cardstock and then inlaid the pieces. I love inlaid dies . . . it's like a jigsaw puzzle.

The die cut background also had inlaid pieces, so double jigsaw puzzle fun.

Of course, I have additional pieces for another card saved in a tray, so perhaps another card will be posted soon.

I hope you find some time to inlay some pieces, if that's your thing!

Party Pups

Today's card was inspired by the prompt at As You Like It, which was "favourite critter" (domesticated critter, that is).

Shocker, but as the photo on my blog shows a picture of a dog, I fess up that dogs steal my heart.

My dad inspired my love for dogs. My mom didn't want pets in our house, she didn't want the mess, chaos and dog hair. I wanted a dog so badly as a child, and I asked Santa for one when I was five. "Santa" delivered. He convinced my mom with a non-shedding dog. The rest is history. And so still have a non-shedder, but my life has been filled with shedders too.

I love that Photoplay had this fun paper with the pups and a die set to match. I cut them all out and have been slowly creating cards, mixing them with other pattern papers, stamps and dies.

Today's card mixes my critters with Pretty Pink Posh and Catherine Pooler Designs stamps/dies.

Find some time to create with a critter today! And use some chunky glitter!

Layered or Flat, and why?

The As You Like It Challenge prompt this week was Layered or Flat. I am most definitely a layered girl. I love flat, but I am in love with layered.

For me, it's all about the texture you can get with a layered card. This one is a perfect example of layers. I used a tone one tone cover die and I wove some pattern paper strips on one side. Then I layered some layered images, in the form of mini-shakers.

Sequins and a sentiment to add some layer in other areas. Just love the texture!

Enough said!

Hope you get the chance to layer something up.

Favorite Color Combinations

It's interesting when I think about color combinations and my favorite ones. A card that combines all the colors of the rainbow is my absolute favorite, likely because I don't have a true favorite. I love all the colors for different reasons, and like my children (or my pets) . . . it's hard to define a favorite!

The As You See It Challenge this week was "favourite colour combo and why". The "why" was the compelling part of this, because many of the combinations of colors just make me happy. But the combination of blues and greens makes me both happy and I find it calming. So that's why I chose it for this challenge . . . because I could explain a hefty why!

I pulled some old product for this one. A bit of a composition notebook . . .

I just find blues and greens to be so calming and peaceful.

I did use a few shades, but stuck to the blue and green (and stayed away from the full rainbow).

I hope you can connect with some colors today.

Cheers.
