Kit Kraft Wednesday X 2

It's Kit Kraft Wednesday . . .  that day when I use my monthly kits.

This week I decided to not only use my kits, but to find a better way to collect the pieces from previous kits so they aren't all lying around in separate boxes and containers.  In doing so, I dug out some paper from old Simon Says Stamp Card Kits to create a card with some other stamps in my collection (not from kits), and I also created a card from last month's Studio Calico kit.

Yes - I'm using my supplies!  It was easy to see which kits I connected the best with from the supplies that were left over from each month.  Let me tell you, there is little left from the December, March and April Kits.  But what I love about the variety is that I'm learning to connect with new product that I might not otherwise purchase on my own.  The kits force me outside of my comfort level and I've been happy with the results.

So here is a little something I created using paper from the February 2014 Card Kit . . . Basic Grey's Fresh Cuts collection (which I LOVED).  I created this using this week's Seize the Sketch.

Copics were the order of the day for this card!  And I just adore this stamped image from Unity Stamp Company.

With my Studio Calico kit, I created using supplies from the kit.  I was going for something on the masculine side.  There were two sheets of the green/white dot paper in the kit, and I decided to cut the banners from one and embellish and place back on the other.  So the diagonal stripe piece was from the second sheet, cut and embossed with Stampin' Up Iridescent Ice embossing powder (the only thing not from the kit) and glued back onto the kit.  The yellow legal pad banner was stamped on and cut from one and then popped onto the other.

The two frames were cut from felt and cork in the kit and I "magically" linked them.  I embossed underneath them, but it's not too noticeable in the photo.

My challenge for next week's Kit Kraft Wednesday?  To open two sealed boxes I've not gotten around to using yet.  Kit Kraft Wednesday will need to be kicked up a notch for sure.  Two cards this week, maybe three for next . . . we'll see.

Hope you find some time to use items in your stash.

Mr. and Mrs. for Mojo Monday

I created a wedding card for this week's Mojo Monday.  Here is my card . . .

I used black and white elements with a touch of a very pale blue that appears gray in these photos.  Here is the sketch:

Loving that delicate heart border die!

This one is earmarked for someone special and will be out of my house by tomorrow!

Make some time to create this week.

Merry Monday to All

Another Merry Monday challenge, and this one was to use buttons and ribbon. I don't use a lot of buttons, but I was up for the challenge.

So there is a collage in the corner of buttons, ribbon, a sentiment and a die cut circle that is grounding all of them.  My sentiment came from inside of the cover of a 6 x 6 Authentique paper pack.  It was the first thing that called to me, and it was my starting point.  I grabbed the pattern papers that went with the sentiment.

I have to say that I'm getting a bit hooked on my Wink of Stella pens.  I only have five colors, but I know that could soon change.  I can never capture that sparkle in my light box, so here it is on my counter . . .

Still a bit hard to see . . . but you get the idea.  I white embossed the ornament strands and used my "Wink" to color them and add some interest.

Hope you find some time to create today!

Message in a Bottle for StampNation Beach Vacation

I've been super exhausted this week trying to keep up with work and with StampNation's Beach Vacation, but I do love to create between my chaos. . . so it's been fun.

But today is Kit Kraft Wednesday, the day where I showcase items made with kits that I've purchased.  I usually will showcase a monthly purchase.  However, today I'm showing a creation made with Gina K. Designs Here Comes the Sun Stamp TV Kit.  While it's not a monthly purchase, I did get it a few months ago, and I did need to get serious about using it.

And so beach vacation was perfect, as the challenge was to create a card showcasing your favorite thing to do at the beach.  Mine?  Walking the shore in search of trinkets . . . and imagining how incredibly cool it would be to find a  message in a bottle.

I love the paper that came in the kit . . . those fun stripes and the swirly wave paper.  The bottle was stamped on white paper and I used some cork scraps to cut a tiny piece for the top.

Perhaps there will be another beach creation using my supplies in the near future.

Hope you found some time to create today.

Don't Flip Out for StampNation Beach Vacation Challenge #1

My favorite craft place . . . StampNation . . . is taking us all on a beach vacation.  It's a week of creativity that kicked off this morning with a blog hop.  We'll have challenges to play along with all week (if I can fit them in along with my day job, I should be a super happy person by the end of the week).

The first challenge was to show off our beach style, and it included some photo inspiration of the beach.  There was one photo of a beach fence with flip flops hanging off of it.  Now I don't have a beach fence . . . you know the kind with the wire and the long thin strips of wood.  But I had bought a fence die from Sizzix a few years ago and had always wanted to make a card that had the fence as the front of the card.  Today was the day!

Here is the card completely closed . . .

Slightly open . . .

And the inside of the card . . .

And since my inside sentiment indicates "take one step at a time", I thought it appropriate to leave one flip flop on the inside.

I finally used my $12.00 die to make the card I had always planned to make!  And it only took about 3 years.

Seriously, if you have ever wondered about StampNation . . . it's the best crafty community I've ever been a part of and I highly recommend it.

Hope you find some time to craft this week.  I will be crafting for my beach vacation all week.

Ciao!

Holly Jolly Shadow Box for Merry Monday

This week's Merry Monday Challenge was to use sequins on a card.  I used three on my card, and more than I bothered to count "inside" my card.

My sentiments within the shaker, on the card panel and inside the card were all embossed in gold.  And what says "Holly, Jolly, Cheer" like a bunch of sequins in a shaker box?  (Maybe some ribbon candy?)

These darn shaker box cards are FUN!

Neopolitan Ice Cream for Seize the Sketch

I pulled out the Copics to do some coloring for this week's Seize the Sketch, and once my image was stamped I just knew the top of this ice cream truck had to be Neapolitan.  I learned that the combination of these colors varies depending on the brand.

This was my first attempt at blending different colors into one image . . . the chocolate browns, the vanillas and the strawberry pinks!   And yes . . . a single sequin, one of each color.

The pattern paper on that bottom image has a single fold for added interest.

You're never too old to color!

One Layered Card for CAS on Sunday and The Paper Players

It's a rare occurrence for me to make a one-layer card.  That was the challenge this week at CAS on Sunday, and I used the color combination provided this week for the The Paper Players

The colors are hard to see in the photo above, and I realized how dark those new In Colors from Stampin' Up are . . . but I do love them!

Hope you found some time today to create!

Berries and a Sketch

It is Wednesday, which means another Kit Kraft Wednesday . . . where I use my monthly kits delivered to my doorstep.  I decided to use my new July stamps and dies from The Stamps of Life and combine it with the sketch from CASE this Sketch and a challenge from StampNation to create a card with fruits or vegetables.

Here is the sketch . . .

And here is my design . . .

There were a few things that had me stressed about this card.  First, sticking to one layer and trying desperately not to mess up the stamping (stamping in the wrong spot or smearing the wet ink after they were stamped).  Second, I was so torn when cutting off the tops of that bottom layer of berries, but I wanted to stay true to the sketch . . . so I cut the stems . . . Ouch!  Third, white seeds or black seeds?  Quite a dilemma.  I went with white.

I have to say that the seeds were therapeutic.  I was so concerned at first with being symmetrical with the stamp, and then I realized that the seeds in a strawberry are far from symmetrical.  So I went a little rogue with the seed stamps.

Hope you can find some time today to create from your stash!

You Are Amazing for Colour Q

I fell in love with the combination for Colour Q and couldn't wait to get started, but then I sat struggling with where to begin.  I pulled out all sorts of stamps and had a few things in mind, and then I came upon a brown bag full of stamps that I had one for a challenge and had my "aha moment."

The Colour Q combination is Coastal Cabana, More Mustard, Island Indigo and one of my favorites . . . Poppy Parade.  I just love how these images came out in the varying colors.  The stamps has some florals that are slightly shaded which really adds to the image.

What looks like a button at the bottom is actually a smiley face (hard to see in the photo) embellishment.

Hope you find some time to create!

Weekend Challenge Creations

I have a lot of creations to share today, beginning with a treat holder I created for the Reverse Confetti Sketch Challenge.  Here is the sketch . . .

And here is my design using the Sweet Treat Tent die . . .

The pattern paper from Little Yellow Bicycle was the inspiration for the rest of the card.  It was fun to transform a card sketch for this treat box.

My second creation is for Mojo Monday, using the Simon Says Stamp July Card Kit.  Here is the sketch . . .

And here is my design . . .

I layered three pattern papers for this one, and there is a chevron ruffle on the right side using washi tape (which was fun to create).

And then finally, this one is for Freshly Made Sketches, also using my July kit.  Here is the sketch . . .

And here is my design . . .

I love the clean white space on this one.  I created tags for this card using the scallop tag punch from Stampin' Up.  I think it would pass for a masculine card.

Hope you found some time to create this weekend!
