The first was CASology, whose cue card was "Bee." I matched this up with the sketch offered at Seize the Sketch, and I decided to get wet with some watercolor and here is the result . . .

I inked up the background stamp (background4bees) with a layer of Versamark and a layer of a Hero Arts Shadow Dye Ink, and I stamped it onto watercolor paper. I then embossed with clear embossing powder so the brown ink wouldn't run. I went into the bottom left corners of all the hexagons with a distress marker (Wild Honey - go figure) and then spritzed with water and used a heat tool to dry. The water pooled in some areas . . . much like perhaps honey might pool up in those combs?

For my second challenge, I played along with the Fusion Challenge, and the big decision is always whether to use the photo inspiration or to use the sketch? Here is the inspiration photo and sketch . . .
I found a piece of paper that had a dot pattern in red on one side, and a natural color on the other side and I decided to cut a circle image and flip the paper and inlay the opposite side. I also had a brand new stamp that had silverware. Before I knew it, the photo and sketch were combined to bring me here . . .

The salt and pepper shakers were stamped in Ranger Archival ink, which
gives an awesome crisp image. Check it out! You can see the holes in the top of the
shaker - love that ink!

You put so much into each design so do you make multiples? Do you mail most of your cards?
ReplyDeleteThanks. I don't usually do multiples; sometimes I will make two cards. And sadly, I don't mail as many as I should. But I do give them as gifts to people along with envelopes and stamps, and I've been known to batch them up and donate them (nursing homes, Operation Write Home, etc.). Fro me, it's creative therapy.

ReplyDeleteThese are both so fun! I had to laugh at using Wild Honey (what? didn't see THAT coming, lol!) and I love the funky watercoloured effect. The doily wrapped around the cutlery is fabulous! So glad you came to play with us at Seize the Sketch, Debbie!
